about

Behold the first of my synth EPs, circa 2005. I created this once I discovered softsynths/piano roll in college. I can play the keyboard but some shit like video game soundtracks requires a little spice to wow people, such as programming extra notes and pretending to be Mozart about it.

I studied Multimedia at ITT Technical Institute, which is now defunct. For our second group project we created a game in four weeks. Due to the fact we had 9 weeks, it wasn't that great, and the reasoning was blamed on the sheer fact the programmer had an extremely difficult time getting the collision detection to work on the now defunct Macromedia/Adobe Flash's actionscript which became quite complicated for what we were trying to accomplish in such a short time. The first "alpha" that didn't work was called Castle Kingdom. The game we ended up making was a small space shooter with two levels called Thanatos, which is available on jlehrjr.itch.io

NOTE: Since there were two games, the EP has two themes, dark dungeon and space. These helped me pave the way years later for the official Project Warlock OST, which actually used some of the tracks though I made them a lot longer and used other software programs to add quite a bit.

So for this defunct college, using defunct flash software for an abandoned game we had intended on adding to after the fact, I discovered a now defunct software called Orion, which I've used ever since. It went obsolete in 2016 but that hasn't stopped me from doing synth EPs up until late 2022 (so far). The tracks used were the theme, Eat Your Heart Out, D-Elevation, and honestly I haven't ever made it to level 2 in the 15 years I played it here and there to reminisce and I doubt I ever will, so I don't remember what the rest were. Strangely, my favorite tracks of all are Riboflaven and Psychosis. There were originally 20 tracks but for this specific version/release I saved 13 of them and the rest are on the outtakes album "Lost In Oblivion." I hope you enjoy this as much as I enjoyed making it. Thank you for sampling it! If you want it, it's merely a buck. If you want all my stuff its fairly cheap as well with a discount ;)
